Anyone,
Can someone explain the meanings of the above two categories and how they differ?
Winning week at Aqueduct last week- no betting yet- but encouraged by the results!
Thanks in advance,
Maxspa

MAX,

Good to hear from you!

General Theory
Almost all handicpping factors no matter how trivial can be classified as belonging to one of the following general categories of handicapping factors:

Pace... early speed, late speed, run style, energy distribution, etc.

Class... an intangible representing raw ability.

Ability from speed figs... Can the player get a handle on the ability of the horse from its final time based speed figs?

Form... form cycles, workouts, condition of the horse itself.

Human Connections... tendencies, abilities, and intent of riders, trainers, and owners.

Misc... Everything else: track biases, breeding, post position, equip changes, preferred dist, age of horse, etc.

Of course sometimes the lines are blurred... Class horses tend to run higher speed and pace figs than lesser horses. Horses in top form tend to run higher speed and pace figs than horses that are out of condition - But if you think about it for a bit, nearly every factor in a horse's past performance record can be thought of as fitting somewhere in the above mix.

If you are asking about the Consensus Numbers in the Race Summary at the bottom of the html report for each race...

Fig Consensus is a compilation of JCapper factors representing Ability From Speed Figs... a mini power rating that I created using the UPR Tools Interface.

Form Consensus is a compilation of JCapper factors representing Form... a mini power rating that I created using the UPR Tools Interface.

Class Consensus is a compilation of JCapper factors representing Class... a mini power rating that I created using the UPR Tools Interface.

Early Consensus is a compilation of JCapper factors representing Early Speed... a mini power rating that I created using the UPR Tools Interface.

Late Consensus is a compilation of JCapper factors representing Late Speed... a mini power rating that I created using the UPR Tools Interface.

Power Consensus is a compilation of JCapper factors representing all of the above... a comprehensive power rating that I created using the UPR Tools Interface.

Can (and if so how) can the ranking of horses in each consensus be used in a UDM. Did not see them in the preset or dynamic filters. That is, if I wanted to use the top 2 ranked horses in class (or form or early) how could I do that.

Thanks

Eric

Right now they are Sql Mode only until I can find free time to add them to the Playlist Mode side of the program.

If you haven't started using Sql Mode and want to... visit JCapper.com... click JCapper 101 Audio and Video... click the index item labeled Operating JCapper in SQL Mode... and dive in.

Jeff,
Thank you for a detailed response to my question!
Until I have some racing meet data to build UDM's with, I'll use some of the Capper facts on the HTML report. With the several videos available to learn from, that explain the nuances of the handicapping program, I'll be very busy indeed with the program's basic operation. Handicapping teaches one to be patient or else!

pdavid6,
Thanks for the encouragement! I am currently handicapping Aqueduct+Tampa Downs. Today, JCapper had an unbelievable day at Tampa with a $226.20 exacta in the 8th race. The Power Number had the exacta 1,3. One of these days I'll have had enough experience to actually bet real money on the data output!

Ralph,

If you are asking about the Consensus Numbers in the Race Summary at the bottom of the html report for each race...

The answer is yes. (Been that way for a couple of years now.)

Fig_Consensus is a compilation of JCapper factors representing Ability From Speed Figs... a mini power rating that I created using the UPR Tools Interface.

Form_Consensus is a compilation of JCapper factors representing Form... a mini power rating that I created using the UPR Tools Interface.

Class_Consensus is a compilation of JCapper factors representing Class... a mini power rating that I created using the UPR Tools Interface.

Early_Consensus is a compilation of JCapper factors representing Early Speed... a mini power rating that I created using the UPR Tools Interface.

Late_Consensus is a compilation of JCapper factors representing Late Speed... a mini power rating that I created using the UPR Tools Interface.

Power_Consensus is a compilation of JCapper factors representing all of the above... a comprehensive power rating that I created using the UPR Tools Interface.

ALL of these are available in the factors drop down of the UDM Wizard (use the bolded factor handles above) and can be added to/used in playlist file mode UDMs.
