Hi Jeff...I'm doing some backtesting and calculating some days of racing from 2009 with the HDW files. The "Creating Export File" process is stopping and displaying a message box that says "Could not update, currently locked. Microsoft JET Database Engine". It seems to be random as to where it stops each time I try it for a given file and the resulting Text Report will only show UDMs up until the time the export process stopped.

Thanks for the help.

Dale

If you are getting a "file locked" message, then an application other than the JCapper Main Module has placed a lock on one of the following files... preventing the Main Module's Calc Races routine from writing to that file during a Calc Races.

file: c:\2004\JCapper.mdb
file: c:\JCapper\Exe\JCapper2.mdb
on your default data folder: Plays.csv

Try closing all open programs other than the JCapper Main Module prior to running a Calc Races.

The list of programs you want to close before doing a Calc Races includes Excel (if you have the Plays.csv open in it) Access (if you have one of the .mdb files open in it) and JCapper modules such as the Data Window, Live Play Module, and UDM Wizard which will place locks of their own on the program's .mdb files.

If you do not see anything that appears open, consider the possibility that an app is still open (with a lock on one of the .mdb files) and windows lost contact with the app some time in the past while writing everything in memory to the swap or paging file.

On my own machines, I've had some strange things happen if something resource intensive like a anti-virus disc scan starts running at the same time the swap file write is taking place... under similar circumstances I've had both XP and Vista "lose contact" with an open window. If that app in that "lost" open window happens to have a lock on one of JCapper's .mdb files, the lock remains in effect - but you can't see the app in memory when you look at current apps running in Task Manager.

If you think something like that might be going on, try something old fashioned... close all open windows and restart your machine.

As a last resort, navigate to the folders where your .mdb files are located and look for a lock file... and delete it if need be.

Hint: The lock file name for a JCapper.mdb would be JCapper.ldb
