Jeff:

Mu UPR works fabulously for WOX, OK for OPX
and like crap for TPX and TAM.

I keep all 3 groups in different folders and
have different JCapper.mdb files in my 2004 folder.

If I wanted to redo my UPR for OPX, is that data
held in the JCapper.mdb file in 2004?

If I wanted to go back to WOX, I would then save
my OPX JCapper.mdb file with another name and rename
my WOX file as JCapper.mdb?

I was making good money at WOX and don't want to
screw up my UPR that worked so well there. I'd rather
sit on my thumbs for another 2 1/2 months waiting
for WOX than lose my UPR as it is currently defined.

That's the correct file. It's very easy to create a new UPR Groupname while leaving your old UPR Groupname intact.

Just give you new GroupName for OPX a name that is different from the GroupName you are using for WOX.

You can toggle back and forth between GroupNames on the User Sys Defs Screen.

Damn!!!

Screwed it up.

My UserFactors are all equal to JPR.

What file would my personal UserFactors and UPR have
been stored in?

C:\2004\JCapper.mdb

Easiest way to undo it would be to revert back to the last known good backup of your c:\2004\JCapper.mdb file.

Checked my ImpactValues Table Wizard and my
personal UserFactors show, they just aren't recognized when I run a UDM through the data window.

Help!!!

Reverting to last good copy of JCapper.mdb is a
TPX and TAM UDM file, not OPX like I am trying
to use.

You should be making backups several times a week... more so if you are doing R&D and making changes to your table entries.

By any chance did you ever print out a report showing your table entries... and save it in a text file?

Q. Are you leaving any sort of audit trail in the Notes field as you make new table entries?

Example: "Dirt Sprints for UF1" (without the quotes) would be one way to tag dirt sprint table entries intended to create UserFactor1.

Got it.

Your suggestion to go to Main Module - ImpactValues/
Table Wizard - Import Groupnames

and then importing the Groupnames worked.

As far as backing up my files, I back up about once
a month, more if I am doing a LOT of changes to my
UDMs. I tend to keep hitting the max number of
allowable UDMs, so I make backups whenever I delete
and redo a significant number of UDMs. That is why I
have 3 different JCapper files (WOX and TAM+TPX and
OPX), to keep from going over the max number of UDMs
allowed.

I have so many backups it gets hard to remember
which one I am needing to restore to. I had the right
files, I just couldn't get them to sync when I tried
to use a file from a previous copy of JCapper.

Thanks for the help!!

Just a suggestion...when you make a backup --use rename and add some sort of date number of your choice like
Jcapper_0101.mbd

Thought I had my files where the rider name file was
not limited to 250 charcters, but I was wrong.

I ran the last updates and it didn't happen. Can I just swap out my JCapper.mdb file and JCapper2.mdb
file with empties and then import my current JCapper.mdb and JCapper2.mdb UDM files?

Not quite sure where I am.

Yes, you can do that.

1. Make backups of your current files:
c:\2004\JCapper.mdb
c:\JCapper\Exe\JCapper2.mdb

2. Download and install the latest version of the program.

3. During the install process, the Extractor will leave fresh blank current version program copies of the above two files sitting in your c:\JCapperBuild folder.

Rename your old files, and copy the new program version files from the c:\JCapperBuild folder to their proper destinations shown above.

4. a. Then use the UDM Wizard to import your UDMs.

b. The IVTable Wizard to import UPR and UserFactors...

c. And the JCapper2 Import Screen (the button is located on the User Sys Defs Screen) to import SQL Mode factor setup and custom report layout.

UDM Wizard imports to JCapper.mdb in C:\2004\

and

ImpactValues Table Wizard imports JCapper2.mdb to
C:\JCapper\exe\

Tried "IMPORT GroupNames" and hit go and got:
Run-time error '-2147217865 (80040e37)':
Table 'ImpactValues' does not exist.

Help again.

Checked out exceeding 255 characters for creating
UDMs.

The importing UDMs went OK and I now have unlimited
characters for Rider Names and Trainer Names.

Rebuilt my database and tried to IMPORT GroupNames
again and still had the error listed above.

If I can just get back my UPR/UserFactors, all
will be right in the world. Any direction would be
appreciated.

My first best guess is that you are trying to use JCapper2.mdb files as source/target for the GroupName Import routine...

The JCapper2.mdb isn't the file you want.

You want JCapper.mdb... that's the file where the ImpactValues Table exists.
