Database build |
ADAnto 1/3/2010 9:51:11 AM | Hi Jeff, probably did screw-up somehow on database building for 2010. And now I'm getting- "55 at DB BUILDER IMPORT Work files Command1-Click Set Button Properties At handler. Run Time Error 55. File already open!
Please Help.
Regards, Tony

Close down all open JCapper modules.
Make sure that your target folder contains data and results files from a single year (2010) only. File names contain track code, month, and day of month only. They do not contain the year. My first best guess would be at least one race card with the same track code, month, and day of month from two different years sitting on the target folder. Example: Data file TAM0102.DRF from 2009 and results file TAM0102.XRD from 2010 sitting on the same folder will cause problems.
Close down any and all open JCapper modules.
Use Windows Explorer (view details) to visually inspect data and results files on the target folder... Make sure all of the files are from the same year.
Rebuild the target folder from Scratch.
Let me know...

So went back to the 2009 folder and started database rebuild from scratch that worked with no problem. now my question is when i build to the 2010 folder should i append or rebuild from scratch. I'm at work now, but i will try to call you tomorrow unless you told me to do otherwise. Thank , Tony

The easiest best strategy for doing that would be to replace your C:\JCapper\Exe\JCapper2.mdb file with a recent backup copy of the file.
If you don't have a backup copy of the file, the next best strategy for repopulating the table would be the Data Window's Menu Exports StarterHistory Table options... The first export, on the first folder, would be a clear first... subsequent folders would be exports as appends.
Handle 2010 separately... as a Rebuild From Scratch... check the Build Database in Playlist File Mode box... but leave the other (sql mode) boxes unchecked.
After you are able to rebuild 2010 from scratch successfully, add initial 2010 data to the StarterHistory Table through Data Window Export.
Add subsequent 2010 data to the StarterHistory Table by running db builds on 2010 as appends with the appropriate boxes checked on the DB Builder.
Hope I explained that in a way that makes sense.
