I've had a question in my mind about using cut off points in factors when we are making UDMs. The only way I have done this is to start with a factor and keep adding new factors to the udm. Each new factor cut off will be dependent on the mix of factors already filtering the UDM.

Another way to make a UDM would be to query each factor individualy without any filters working and record the cut off points. The cut off points would undoubtedly be different doing them this way. The UDM could be made with all cut off points established without other filters.

The question is would the second method be as valid as what we're doing now or would the second method just be a big mess? No, I haven't been smoking that funny stuff today! I hope my question makes sense.

The 2nd method sounds like a bad idea, because there's going to be a degree of dependence between any two factors you're looking at. So once you install one factor with the cutoffs that look best, that might already be accounting for the performance difference you're seeing in another factor.
