are we getting to the point of to much infomation. |
Stranded 9/27/2009 6:50:57 PM | are we getting away from the real point of making good udm or upr's.all this stuff is fine but is it really needed. my point is this.
faith - in your udm upr's
patience -odds you want or sit on you hands
pull the tigger
then the only thing that beats you is yourself.

JimG 9/27/2009 9:15:09 PM | JCapper is a muli-faceted program. As users we can pick and choose what we want to use. Personally, the additions just released are much of what I was looking for out of the program as I am NOT a spot play UDM person. Nothing wrong with it, I just approach the races differently.
Many upgrades I do not use the new features although I am sure they are of value to many users.
I would like to thank Jeff for a terrific upgrade and I suspect the SQL based stuff will have positive consequences for all users of JCapper in the future.

kingfish 9/27/2009 10:00:04 PM | For me I love the new Sql upgrade features just released. It gives me a chance to create my own html report that I want. And I have been able to see alot of profitable patterns. That I wouldn't have seen with out the new features. Plus alot of people use Jcapper differently than just spot play udms.
For example the By trainers, sires, riders, and track information to me is priceless. As the race game gets tougher with poly track and slot machines. We need all of the information we can get. In the end we decide what information is most important to us. If a new upgrade gets one or two more double digit winners. That could mean the difference between a great day or bad day. Especially in exotic plays that could lead to irs signers.

Charlie James 9/28/2009 1:13:21 AM | Stranded, yes - define the game on your terms. Then make it come to you.
I don't want to look at horses unless they are bred to do what's being asked today.
In fact I made Jeff show me how to limit races on the custom report to just MY races; and limit horses in each race to just MY trainers and sires.
Jcapper is capapble of spitting out endless amounts of data; 90 percent of it I never use.
But I couldn't be happier with the new upgrade.
I see only what I want to see. With some help I make Jeff's program bring the game to me.
Jeff, a big thank you for all your work and for this latest upgrade!

Stranded 9/28/2009 7:10:16 AM | i have ben playing the horses for 49 years .i own and race hoeses.i have used many programs.jcapper is the best.but i also know there is a point of no return. my r.o.i. for the arlington meet that just ended was 1.97 using just seven udm's over 4-1. i also know that not everyone is winning with any program they use fact of life. i say for the ones that are not, keep it simple.

JustRalph 9/28/2009 10:10:08 AM | if you finished arlington with that roi.......
Congrats to you my Friend!!
Arlington is flakier than a box of cereal
if you ask me. I tracked it for a while and tossed it aside..........not a damn dime went into those pools this year.........
Good for you!!

bettheoverlay 9/28/2009 3:30:45 PM | I have given up as well on Arlington the last two years by the end of June. I can't get a handle on it. The poly at Woodbine is tricky too but I have been able to spot and go with some short term trends with some success and they have bigger fields.
Better to have too much information at ones disposal than not enough. I have jettisoned all my generic UDMs and replaced them with short term track specific stuff. So I whittled down the factors I use to my 3 paced based UserFactors and one form based UF plus UPRMLprob. And some jockey/trainer stuff. I mostly modify using CXN 55+ and FastSlowFinal R1-5. That's pretty much it. But these new consensus factors are dynamite and really good final modifiers as well, so I have added them to the pool I draw from.
The SQL mode is great for my kind of on the fly UDMs,
JCapper 3 years ago with just JRating (and a bit more), to JCapper today- WOW!
