Any thoughts.........on Comments |
JustRalph 8/17/2009 2:58:43 PM | I am wondering if there is a way to look for certain words in the Comments section
like "Tired" "Wkend" and the like?
Via UDM ..........

jeff 8/17/2009 10:49:29 PM | Filter code choices for favorable/unfavorable chart comments are:
BORE= require bore in/out LR or 2bk BORE1= require bore in/out LR BORE2= require bore in/out 2bk BORE3= require bore in/out 3bk
BOREX avoid bore in/out LR or 2bk BORE1X avoid bore in/out LR BORE2X avoid bore in/out 2bk BORE3X avoid bore in/out 3bk
TROUBLE1= require altered trip LR TROUBLE2= require altered trip 2bk TROUBLE3= require altered trip 3bk
TROUBLE1X avoid altered trip LR TROUBLE2X avoid altered trip 2bk TROUBLE3X avoid altered trip 3bk
XSTART1= require poor start LR XSTART2= require poor start 2bk XSTART3= require poor start 3bk
XSTART1X avoid poor start LR XSTART2X avoid poor start 2bk XSTART3X avoid poor start 3bk
WIDE1= require wide trip LR WIDE2= require wide trip 2bk WIDE3= require wide trip 3bk
WIDE1X avoid wide trip LR WIDE2X avoid wide trip 2bk WIDE3X avoid wide trip 3bk
From the above I did some R&D and identified specific comment based filter codes as being favorable. From that I created the following two filter codes:
COMMENT= require favorable chart comments COMMENTX avoid favorable chart comments
If you are asking if I did R&D to identify comment based filter codes that could be categorized as unfavorable, no - that's something I have not done. That said if you want to do that be my guest. It's simply a matter of running individual filter codes for bore out, wide trip, poor start, and other types of troubled trips through the Data Window.
To add specific comment based preset filter codes to a UDM:
Bring up the UDM in the UDM Wizard. On the Modify Screen select Filters from the Factors drop down. Then click the Preset Filter Tool button. In the Preset Filter Tool open up the filter codes drop down (it responds to alpha numeric keystrokes) and select the filter code you want to add to the UDM. Verify the filter code itself in the small preview window. Then click tyhe ADD FILTER button. Verify the filter code in the big preview window. If you like what you see click the SAVE and CLOSE button.
Then run the UDM back through the Data Window to check your work.
