I am trying to create a UDM that flags horses that Won last out, (easy part, finish position) but I want to flag only horses that won by 1 length or more.
Preferably by no more than 9 lengths also......no photos or less than length victories...... believe it or not, I found a great use for this tied into another UDM.

I think that using the dynamic filters in Jcapper is harder than Chinese Arithmetic and I just can't figure out this "neg" versus "pos" stuff.......... When I try to put anything in, I either flag every damn horse that ever won, or none at all......yes I did ride the short bus for a while.......

Jeff, can you help me out? Anybody?

Ralph,

1. Using the UDM Wizard, set min amd max val for Finish Position to 1 and Save. That'll get you Finish Position.

2. Next select Filters as your factor.

From there copy the following two filter codes...

!ALL!MXN1-!ALL!NEG9

onto the Windows ClipBoard and paste into an open instance of Notepad... which will remove any hidden line feed or carriage return characters put there by your browser when it renders the msg board page. Then lift directly from Notepad and paste into the filter codes text box in the UDM Wizard.

Then hit the Save Button.

That should get you last race winners that won by more than a length but not by more than 9.

When you run your UDM through the Data Window you should see something like this:

UDM Definition: WonByOneOrMore
Divisor: # UDM Def Divisor: 999

Keep in mind that for horses that won their last race the winning margin is converted to a negative number. The reason for that is to show winning margin beaten lengths separately from beaten lengths of horses that didn't win their last whenever you run a Data Window query broken out by Beaten Lengths.
