These are the new preset filters in the 10/05/2008 program update:

BarnSwitch:
BSWITCH=1 require barn switch today
BSWITCH=0 avoid barn switch today
BSWITCH=N avoid barn switch in record
BSWITCH=Y require barn switch in record

JockSwitch:
JSWITCH=1 require jock switch today
JSWITCH=0 avoid jock switch today
JSWITCH=N avoid jock switch in record
JSWITCH=Y require jock switch in record

Here's how they work:

BSWITCH=1 require barn switch today
Horse must be switching barns for today's start. Meaning? Horse had a different trainer last start than it has for today's start.

BSWITCH=0 avoid barn switch today
Horse must not be switching barns for today's start. Meaning? Horse had the same trainer last start as it has for today's start.

BSWITCH=N avoid barn switch in record
Horse does not have a barn switch anywhere in its visible past performance lines based record. If the horse has 10 visible past performance lines the horse has had the same trainer for all 10 lines as it has for today's race. If the horse has less than 10 lines the same rules apply. Horse has had the same trainer in all of its visible lines as it has for today's race.

BSWITCH=Y require barn switch in record
Horse does have a barn switch somewhere in its visible past performance lines based record.

BSWITCH=Y is the complement of BSWITCH=N. BSWITCH=Y horses are those with a barn switch somewhere in their past performance lines based records. For a horse with 10 lines the switch could have occurred in line 3 vs line 4. Or it could be occuring last line compared to today's race. A BSWITCH=Y horse is a horse with a barn switch anywhere in its record.

Notes:

First time starters
Technically, a first time starter is a BSWITCH=N horse. It does not have a barn switch anywhere in its record because it has no visible past performance lines.

Using the BSWITCH=N or JSWITCH=N preset filter in a UDM all by itself will cause the UDM to include first time starters among the horses flagged by the UDM.

To make a UDM exclude first time starters, add the LT0 (avoid lifeTimeStarts = 0) preset filter to the UDM.

Example - a UDM with the following preset filters:

BSWITCH=N-LT0

will only flag horses that have actually raced that do not have a barn switch anywhere in their visible past performance record.

Horse is BSWITCH=1 but xthStartForTrainer = 2 or higher.
Happens infrequently but here's what it means:

The horse is making a barn switch for today's race AND today's trainer previously trained the horse for one or more races in its visible past performance lines based record.

Interested to mess around with this. I saw another 1st time Chris Richard horse jog as JPR7 today while being hammered at 4.7-1 offshore. It always makes me wonder how barn switches within the last ten starts kinda screw up the numbers.

Dean If you don't mind, would you please post the web address for getting the OFFSHORE odds? Could be interesting. Thanks in advance.

Hi Tucker, I use the trading at Betfair mostly. It tells you where the money is. For example, in race 3 at Mountain right now, the 2 and 3 will end up co chalk (slight edge to the three being chalk, eventho on the board he is not), more than likely. It's good to know an approximation of final odds.
