Can the Rank For Logical Fig be grabbed in a UDM or is it only grabbable in a UPR ?

IMHO, your best bet for grabbing it in a UDM is to dedicate one of the UsserFactor slots to it, use a translate beahvior, and have the UDM grab the UserFactor.

Another way (a way that does have certain implications) would be to change the PaceLine settings on the System Settings/System Definitions Screen to emulate a "logical fig"... a logical fig being the best final time based speed fig run on a similar surface (Turf vs Dirt) at a similar distance (Sprint vs Route.)

Here's a link to a related thread from a while back:

Thanks for the suggestions Jeff.

FYI: System settings are configured to force a logical surface and distance within x amount of days.

I'm probably missing a step somewhere, but when I build a UPR (Group Name: Overlay) OR a USERFACTOR, it doesn't seem to be working.

For example, with the UPR, I used the example help document to create a UPR named OVERLAY , selected the name in the system settings and saved, rebuilt the database and when trying to use the UPR in a UDM get the below Data window result: Trying to break it out by Gaps or a number gives the same type result. Just 1 line of data, with in this example 530 qualifiers. same thing when I create a USERFACTOR, just get a return of 1 line of data with 530 plays.

In the IV table all factors builing the UPR are active, not track restricted or class restricted. For Dirt races and min distance is set to 0 and max to 999.

What am I missing :)

Thanks,
Tom

There's a checkbox on the System Settings/System Definitions Screen in the HTML Report area labeled Display UPR User Factors.

Q. Is that box checked?

If not, that could be one explanation for what you are seeing. Try checking the box and rebuilding a small db from scratch.

If that doesn't get it, or if the box IS checked, then shoot me a copy of your c:\2004\JCapper.mdb file and I'll have a look.

Hi Jeff,

The box to Display UPR user Factors is checked.

I'll email you the jcapper 2004 file.

Thanks,
Tom

Tom, Received your email and took a look at the table entries driving UPR and UserFactor1. Just sent out a return email containing a revised set of table entries along with an explanation of what needed to be changed.

I hope you won't mind me using one set of table entries to illustrate something that may not be fully touched on in the help docs. By posting it here I'm hoping to prevent someone else from doing the same thing in the future.

(best viewed if you double click the title bar to maximize it)

Take a look at the image file. Specifically take note of the original table entries for AFR on the left vs. the corrected table entries for AFR on the right.

In a nutshell, the ordering sequence matters.

The algorithm that generates UPR and UserFactors evaluates factor values and gaps from lowest to highest. It isn't designed for and can't handle numbers in a highest to lowest sequence.

In this case I simply re-keyed the table entries in a lowest to highest sequence and hit the Save button.

Jeff,

I don't mind posting of the UPR factor -- Hopefully it will save someone some time !!!
