My data folders are monthly and twice in the past I inadvertently and instantaneously made one of them disappear. This was during data window researching. After frantic searching I found the missing folder embedded in another months folder. Currently, I have Nov07 residing in Oct07. I fixed the first folder disappearance, I think I copy/pasted back into C/.

Today I was loading the PPs from Bris into the CustomPPGenerator. I inadvertently clicked on March2008 instead of May2008 which was right below it. I was unable to unclick it, and the box read "not responding" and I xed out of the load file box. When I did, the previous days PPs were no longer visible, and when I clicked on load file there was no more May2008. More frantic searching found my May2008 folder now residing within in my March2008 folder.

What can possibly be happening here? May2008 is actually May/June and is my default folder. Is the correct procedure to copy/paste back to C/, or is there a one click method similiar to the way I inadvertently moved it to another location?

Since May2008 was my default folder I was unable to do anything else in JCapper, an error message popped to set a new default folder which I was unable to do as another error message popped up when I attempted to go into SystemSettings/DefaultFolder. I successfully copy/pasted my May2008 default folder back to its proper location, reopened JCapper, and all is well. A puzzler.

My understanding is that the dialog boxes used for file loading in both the TSN/Bris Past Performance Generator (and JCapper) have access to the same libraries as Windows Explorer. This means that you can use them to copy, paste, rename, and delete files and folders.

It's just a guess on my part - but it's possible that an inadvertant mouse click copied the folder itself onto the Windows ClipBoard and from there another inadvertant mouse click pasted it to the new location.

In any event, glad that you were able to find it.

Bet, are you having any other problems?

This can happen with a damaged file allocation table. I would do some maintenance and backup stuff, I have seen this many times as a symptom to what becomes a larger problem down the road.

I would

open "my computer" right click on c: drive and hit properties.......go to the "tools" tab and scan the drive for errors.........see if it finds anything.....can't hurt ..........

I assume you are using Winxp

JR, I did the scan for errors process and when it ended I didn't receive any message at all, good or bad, so I guess that means good, The other problem I'm having is the computer siezes up occasionally and I have to manually shut it off, and when it comes up all is fine again. It has never siezed up more than once in a day, and I usually have it on for many hours. What spooked me about this folder disappearance was that I have all my data folders backed up, except for my current one. Thanks for the help.

restart the system twice a day and see if the lock ups go away. A reboot refreshes memory use etc.

restart and go get a coke is my motto..........
