I'm unsure about what to do in switching to HDW data, concerning the jcapper and jcapper2 files in order to keep my upr and html factor setups working. Could you list the steps please?

Here's a link to an older thread where I posted some thoughts related to making the switch:

I guess what I'm asking is, do I need to rename my jcapper.mdb and jcapper2.mdb files to keep my bris data, and then use a fresh copy of each file to start my HDW data? And if so, do I need to import my html factor setup for my html report?

Makes sense. (Got it now.)

c:\2004\JCapper.mdb file
Q. Rename this file?

A. No. Leave it intact.

This file contains UDM definitions and entries for UPR and UserFactors.

Going forward, as you accumulate more and more data, you may decide to modify existing UDMs and/or create new UDMs based on things you see in the data. You may also decide to modify UPR and/or UserFactors for the same reasons.

But that involves editing/deactivating existing UDMs and/or creating new UDMs to replace the old. It also involves doing the same for entries that drive UPR and UserFactors.

All of this can be done working with your existing c:\2004\JCappper.mdb file.

The only reason I can think of to replace the existing file with a fresh blank copy would be if you simply want to wipe the slate clean and start fresh.

c:\JCapper\Exe\JCapper2.mdb file
Q. Rename this file?

A. That depends.

Q. Are you are operating in sql mode? (Or are you installing a new JCapper program update at this time?)

A. If the answer to either question is yes - then yes. You want a new JCapper2.mdb file - and I'm guessing you probably want to keep your old JCapper2.mdb file around so that you can query its StarterHistory table with the Data Window.

So yes. Rename the JCapper2.mdb file on the c:\JCapper\Exe folder to something like JCapper2_Brisnet.mdb to get your old file out of the way.

Then navigate to your c:\JCapperBuild folder and find the JCapper2.mdb file there. FYI, the JCapper2.mdb file in the c:\JCapperBuild folder is a fresh blank current version copy put there by the Installer at the time of your most recent program install.

After renaming the c:\JCapper\Exe\JCapper2.mdb file to get the old file out of the way - copy the fresh blank current version JCapper2.mdb in the c:\JCapperBuild folder to the c:\JCapper\Exe folder.

At this point, you may want to use the JCapper2 Import Screen to import data for the following tables out of your old file and into your new file:

SQL Mode F-Factor Setup

SQL Mode Customizable HTML Report Layout

TripNotes

WagerHistory

ToteCodes

Q. Are you are operating in playlist file mode? (And not installing a new program update at this time?)

A. If the answer to both the above question is yes - then no.

There is no reason to rename the JCapper2.mdb file at this time.
