Trouble creating an index file for Imported Plays |
TomV 2/24/2013 11:38:05 AM | Get a message when trying to create an index file for the Imported plays:
File Type not selected. Please select an index file type.
Steps being used:
1) Selected the Imported Play list file 2) Clicked the Build Index button and tried to select a pl_profile file and get that message.
Can create other index file types and can use the Imported Plays file as an import in the data window.
Maybe I'm missing a step for creating the imported plays index?
Thanks, Tom

Had to select an index type to build (Cpace, favorites, etc) after selecting the import plays file.

I thought I had figured out using the Imported plays index file, but must be missing something.
These are the steps being used:
Open the Quick Index dialog Select # 36 Imported plays Index Select the spot play file Click OK on the instructions (expected to see another windows explorer window open, but nothing happens) Thus Click the button Imported Plays Index Select the PL_Profile.txt file
Get a message to select an index file type and then nothing happens.
Thanks, Tom

jeff 3/7/2013 7:30:27 PM | Try using the Data Window.
1. Launch the Data Window in Playlist File Mode.
2. Click MENU. Then click Exports followed by Quick Index File Create New.
3. Toggle the Export "on" by clicking Yes at the prompt and using the dialog box that pops up to specify a file name for your new quick index file.
Hint: The first 3 characters of the quick index file name that you are creating must be "pl_" and you supply your own custom characters after that. Best practice would be to name the file in such a way that the file name describes what it is you are making the Data Window write to that file.
Hint: You will know that you have toggled an Export "on" when you see text running across the title bar at the very top of the Data Window that says "Create new quick index file" followed by the path and file name that you supplied using the dialog box.
4. With the Export toggled "on" - execute a Data Window query. As the query executes the Data Window will populate your new quick index file with data from the starters returned by your query.
Hint: You can gain precise control over what gets written to your new quick index file by executing a UDM.

Nice feature and didn't realize that was there.
So, is there a way to create a quick index of spot plays from an external data source ?
Thanks, Tom
