To create a new UDM based on Owner Name:

1. Start the UDM Wizard

2. On the UDM Template screen give your UDM a unique name.

Note: I have a habit of beginning all of my Owner based UDMs with the letter O followed by the underscore or _ character... I use R_ for rider based UDMs... T_ for trainer based UDMs... X_ for negative expectation UDMs... 0_ (a numeric zero not an Oscar) for my Business UDMs... and E_ for energy profile or track specific UDMs. That's how I control the vertical sort sequence of the way UDM names are displayed on the HTML Report when multiple UDMs from different schools of thought all converge on the same horse.

From top to bottom the sorted stack of UDM names paints a picture about the horse. Naming your UDMs in a consistent manner based on the underlying concepts behind them is a good practice to get into. But that's going off on a tangent.

On the Template Creation Screen give your UDM a unique name, make any required selections you might have for track code, surface, or distance, and hit the Next Button - which will create the UDM Template and bring you to the Modify UDM Screen.

3. In the Modify UDM Screen, open up the factors drop down (it's in the upper right of the screen) and select Owner Name. You will be presented with a checkbox and a textbox that looks like this:
http://www.JCapper.Com/HelpDocs/ownerName.jpg

Check the box, key in a name match for the owner name that you want, and click the SAVE button.

At this point you have a UDM with Owner Name as part of the UDM Definition.

4. Start the Data Window (or hit the Reset Button on the Data Window if it's already open) and run your UDM through the Data Window to verify that you are in fact getting a name match for the owner name that you keyed into your UDM.

Email a copy of the following file to me and I'll have a look:

You might see if putting the owner's name in as:

"Moss Maggi"

I think the file contains the owner's name with last name first.

Just a thought to try.

The Bris files that I have for PRM show her as Maggi Moss. Is she listed differently by TSN? If so, and if Tommy is using TSN files that's a difference maker here.

You have to get a name match between the owner name in your UDM and the owner name in the data file.

On the System Definitions Screen check the box to display owner name on the HTML Report and hit the Save button. When you run a Calc Races the owner name (as it appears in the data file) will appear on the HTML Report.

The name you use in your UDM must create a name match with the owner name on the HTML Report.

Q. How is Maggi Moss listed on your HTML Reports?

Load the PRM0617 card and look at the 1 horse in R2.

In the example I posted earlier in this thread I used MAGGI MOSS which is the way she is listed in Bris files. My first best guess is that TSN lists her differently.

i copied MAGGI MOSS from tsn, prm0617 R2 and pasted it into this udm and this is it,
i also copied and pasted several other owners names from tsn race cards with the same results.

Anyone else using TSN files having this problem?

Would you or somebody else using TSN files be kind enough to email a copy of the following TSN PCS File to me along with the matching XRD file?:

PRM0617.PCS
PRM0617.XRD

Using Bris files I can say with certainty the program is working in exactly the manner I have described.
