This used to be posted on the Old Message Board. I'm posting it here as new users (and old alike) may find it useful...
To create a Single Quick Index File Spanning Multiple Folders, use the Quick Index File Extract Tool's Complete History option:
1. Launch the Quick Index File Extract Tool
2. Open up the factors drop down. Scroll UP and select 0 Complete History.
3. Use the Folder Icon to navigate to the target folder that contains the first Pl_profile.txt file you want to include in your Complete History File.
4. Select + Create New Index
5. Click the "GO" button and open the Pl_profile.txt file on your target folder.
The Quick Index File Extract Tool will create a new file in your default data folder named pl_Complete_History.txt. At this point the file will be an exact replica of the Pl_profile.txt file that you just opened.
6. Select - Add to Existing Index instead of + Create New Index. This will cause the Quick Index File Extract Tool to append data to the end of your Complete History File instead of overwriting it.
7. Use the Folder Icon to point the Quick Index File Extract Tool to the next target folder that you want to include in your Complete History File.
8. Click the "GO" button and open the second (or next) Pl_profile.txt file on your second (or next)target folder. At this point your Complete History File contains data from your first and second target folder.
Repeat steps 7 and 8 as needed until you've extracted data from all of the target folders that you want included in your Complete History File. When you have extracted data from all of the target folders that you want, exit out of the Quick Index File Extract Tool.
At this point you have data from multiple folders sitting in a single file on your Default Data Folder named pl_Complete_History.txt. You can use the Data Window to query this file just like any other PlayList or QuickIndex file.
9. Preserve your Complete History File. Simply rename it. This prevents it from being overwritten the next time you use the Complete History option. Changing the name from pl_Complete_History.txt to something like pl_Complete_History_08.txt works very well for this purpose. As long as you keep the first three characters of the filename as pl_ the Data Window will "see" the file when you hit the ALL or UDM buttons.
