IMHO, your best bet is to bypass Brisnet and use the xml button in Scratch BOT to parse the xml directly. (It's what I do.)
The basics:
1. You need a good set of entries in your TrackAbbreviations table for the tracks that you play.
When you key your entries, you need to match:
A. The track code and tote code. (Both are the first three characters from the name of the data file for each track.)
B. The track_name as listed by Equibase in the XML. (Also easy. The xml itself is clickable and can be read by us human beings. Key the track_name as listed by Equibase in the xml into the Notes field of the table for each track.)
Note that there are two exceptions to this rule. They are:
a. CTX - Use Charles Town (not case sensitive) as the notes field entry.
b. MNR - Use Mountaineer (also not case sensitive) as your notes field entry.
2. From here, you need an understanding of when scratches become available in the xml.
It varies from one track to the next, but typically, a track employee will key the early scratches and changes into the Equibase system anywhere between 60 and 15 mtp for R1.
At some point during the day, usually after the early changes have been keyed in, the chart caller takes over and becomes responsible for keying new changes as they are announced.
(Most of them are actually pretty diligent about doing this.) In all cases, whether it be early changes or changes that happen later in the day - as soon as the person keying in the changes hits the submit button - the changes just keyed in auto propagate throughout the system and show up in the xml (where they can be parsed by Scratch BOT.)
Based on that, provided you have a good set of table entries for each of your tracks - clicking the xml button anywhere from 60 to 15 mtp for R1 will get you the early scratches and changes for a given track. Clicking the xml button at various times later in the race day will get you the rest.
By the way, here's a link to another thread in the private area of the board discussing the same topic: http://www.jcapper.com/messageboard/TopicReader.asp?topic=1317&forum=Private
