Hello All..

My name is Mike and I am a new user....:)

Jeff has got me thru the basics and now I like to hear from seasoned veterans on how would someone like me get past where I'm at currently.

I've read the documents and gone thru the videos to get me to a point where I can do some simple UDM's . Mostly one-liners...but they WORK!! (In playlist mode...SQL mode is later)

I seen UDM's can get complex with the "seen" factors and the "unseen" ones that I cant get a handle on.

This board is pretty much vague on a step by step process...
so I would like to provide my approach

I have taken a track by track road instead of a universal approach to making a UDM because it is easier for me to work...

First , I take my track of choice and get the "Key Factors Report"
Second , I look at the best category(s) with a ROI over 1.00 with a good number of wins compared to the other categories. I try to stay with pace figs because I am not confident with the other categories like connections, class, form, etc....
Next, I break down by Dist, Surf, Class to see if I can get a better ROI
When I get a workable factor, I then start up the UDM wizard and apply the factor to it..

I told you it was simple..LOL

When I see my udm show up on one of the top 4 OL choices ..I smile :)

Well, that's it I a nutshell...If someone can take me by the hand to the next level ..I'd appreciate it...

Mike

P.S.- Jeff, if you don't mind , I'd like to hear from the guys here because I bothered you enough already :)

Hi Mike,

I've been using JCapper for 6 years. It has improved my play, increased my profitability and found winners I never would have found previously.

Having said that, one of the things I like most about the program is the flexibility. While we all have access to similar information the way you apply it could be greatly different from user to user.

Along with the factors Jeff has masterfully created, you have the ability to create your own userfactors, which is very unique. I would encourage you to learn how to create your own userfactors and apply them to your UDM's.

I too started with track UDM's. I gave those up and went to universal UDM's. I have not regretted this decision as a well crafted UDM will work at most tracks.

Lastly, you'll need patience. If you like to do the research and I did hundreds of hours my first couple of years, you'll get rewarded with nice priced winners.

Unlike most here I have alot of UDM's active, all are profitable and I review them quarterly. I have positive UDM's that I color code based on profitability. I have negative UDM's. I have situational UDM's that point out trainer changes and foreign horses. I have a Power Rating that I'd like to improve and I use it for filling out Pick 3's and Pick 4's. When I bet vertically it is to win, backing my horse up in exactors for 2nd. I believe a better way to play place, without betting a horse to place. I've had lots of nice price horses finish 2nd to logical winners and be rewarded.

Good luck on your journey. Sure that if you are determined, you will find success.

Terry
