What's Inside:
The above link will get you a zip file that contains data and results files, courtesy of HDW, for the first day of Summer - June 21, 2012.

This download contains the following:
  • The day's HDW zip files - exactly as they arrive when downloaded directly from the HDW site. The J.zip files contain HDW binary race files. The F.zip files contain HDW Text Chart Results files.

  • The day's comma delimited JCapper .JCP past performance files - created by running a .JCP File Build routine from inside of the HDW File Manager. These are comma delimited past performance data files, 1435 data fields per horse record - populated with HDW data.

  • The day's comma delimited JCapper .XRD results files - created by running an .XRD Results File Build routine from inside of the HDW File Manager. These are comma delimited results files, 255 data fields per horse record - populated with data from HDW Text Chart Results Files.

  • The day's comma delimited JCapper .DAT past performance files - created by running a Build Database routine from the JCapper Main Module. The .DAT file is a special file unique to JCapper that contains both past performance data and results data within the record for each horse.

The .DAT File is the only file type that can be used to run Calc Races routines with the Demo Version of the JCapper prorgam. This restriction is lifted in all "live" versions of the JCapper program.

.DAT files are created by the JCapper Main Module during Build Database routines. I have included a pre-built set of .DAT files here as part of the JCapper Demo so that you can load them into the Demo program using the .DFM Card Loader, run a Calc Races routine, and see JCapper Report output.

Install Instructions:
  1. Save the .zip file (filename: 06212012jcapperdata.zip) to your hard drive. Hint: c:\JCapperBuild is a good location.

  2. Create a target folder where you intend to store the data and results files contained in the zip file. Hint: c:\2012\JCapperDemo is a good path to use for this (although you can use any folder name on any drive on your system.)

  3. Copy the downloaded zip file (filename: 06212012jcapperdata.zip) to the target folder that you created in the above step.

  4. Unzip the downloaded zip file (filename: 06212012jcapperdata.zip) extracting the contents out onto your target folder.

  5. Change your Data Vendor Setting to HDW - The files included in this download package are populated with HDW data. Before using them, it is important that you click System Settings, System Definitions - and from inside the User System Definitions Screen: Persist your Data Vendor Setting as HDW.
That's it! From here, you can use the files contained in this download package to work through the JCapper 101 Class Outline found in the Demo User Quick Start Guild Help Doc.

Best of luck to you.
