Yesterday afternoon I went for a run along the same stretch of sand where I found the Christmas Tree.

Met some people with a really nice boat... looked to be between 35 and 40 ft.

They told me they were out on the bay partying all night.

Came in towards shore just as the sun was coming up. Anchored and then went to sleep.

Woke up a few hrs later to find their boat beached in the sand.

It turns out high tide yesterday was about 7:00 am.

I came by a little after low tide at 1:00 pm.

Most of their group was gathered on the shore waiting for the tide to come back in.

Asked them if they needed anything. They said no. Showed me a big ice chest full of food and drinks.

I wished them a Happy New Year and continued my run.

When I got back to the office I went online and looked up high tide for yesterday - which turned out to be about 7:00 pm.

Just got back a few minutes ago from running the same stretch of sand again today.

The boat was gone. Guessing they had to wait another 3 or 4 hrs for the tide to come back enough to lift their boat off the sand.

Had to hurry back because I had a play in the last race at TUP.

Got back with just enough time to bet the race and watch the last two horses be loaded into the gate.

Only to cancel because there were not one but two gate scratches.

After the late scratches field size went from 7 to 5. And the odds on my horse dropped from 7-2 to 2-1.

So I did the right thing on my last play of the year and passed.

Happy New Year Everyone!
