DRF.com article - Tote company error results in four horses running for purse money only:
http://live.drf.com/nuggets/28645

--quote:
"Four horses running on today's Belmont Park card -- including the morning-line favorites for races 1 and 4 -- will be running for purse money only after Am Tote erroneously entered those horses as scratched.

According to Steve Lewandowski, the NY Gaming Commission steward, Am Tote published yesterday's scratches as today's scratches. Since wagering had already begun, the stewards ruled those horses could run for purse money only, meaning no wagers will be accepted on them."

Blood-Horse.com article - Scratched horse wins at Parx Racing:
http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/211551/scratched-horse-wins-race-at-parx-racing

--quote:
"A late change in the status of a horse entered May 10 at Parx Racing created confusion and ultimately frustration for bettors.

Change of Seasons initially was listed as being scratched from the fourth race May 10 at Parx, but at some point the son of Spring At Last was either re-entered—or perhaps the initial information on the scratch was inaccurate. Either way, Stanley Trzcinski's Change of Season, at odds of 10-1, rallied from last in the field of five to score a clear victory in the six-furlong test."

My comment:

I'm really glad the people with six figure jobs in this industry are merely in charge of horses running around in a circle.

Because (in my opinion) if the same people were in charge of air traffic control, takeoffs, and landings for airplanes full of live passengers:

We'd be seeing multiple crashes each week.

Seriously, how hard is it to get scratches right?

Or even close to right?

Or for that matter rules in place to allow for corrections in cases where several hours of lead time still exist before post time for races where data entry mistakes have been made?

Jeff,

I had to change the scratch code for Arlington today to get the scratches on scratch bot but now when I calculate the races the scratched horses are still coming up as plays even though on the manual change page they are scratched.

Can you give me some advice on how to fix this?

Thanks,
Tom C

Jeff,

Never mind...I believe I have solved this problem

Thanks,
Tom C
