Below is a cut and paste of a question (with my answer) about Gulfstream Park West (new track code GPW) from the private area of this board...

--quote:
"Hi Jeff,

Calder has been renamed to Gulfstream Park West.
Will this affect the track code or file name at all or will they still be listed as CRC?

Thanks!"
--end quote

My reply:
Ron Tiller asked me how I wanted HDW to handle the change. He gave me the option of using the new track code (GPW) or the old track code (CRC.)

Because the races will be run at Calder not Gulfstream: I asked that all HDW files and stats inside those files retain the CRC track code until such time as they bulldoze the place.

So what should it look like in the Scratches module?

Would it be CRC, GPW, GULFSTREAM PARK WEST?

HDW:

Scratch BOT Track Abbrev Table Entries for CRC:

Link to Screenshot showing TrackAbbrev Table Entries for CRC with XML for GULFSTREAM PARK WEST in the background:
http://www.JCapper.com/MessageBoard/Avatars/ScratchBotCRC.jpg

Bullet points:

• Track Code: CRC
-Why? Because CRC matches the first 3 characters of the HDW data file name.

• Tote Code: CRC
-Why? Because CRC matches the first 3 characters of the HDW data file name.

• Notes Field: GULFSTREAM PARK WEST
-Why? Because GULFSTREAM PARK WEST matches the track_name attribute of the track node in the clickable xml.

Brisnet:

Scratch BOT Track Abbrev Table Entries for GPW:

Bullet points:

• Track Code: GPW
-Why? Because GPW matches the first 3 characters of the Brisnet data file name.

• Tote Code: GPW
-Why? Because GPW matches the first 3 characters of the Brisnet data file name.

• Notes Field: GULFSTREAM PARK WEST
-Why? Because GULFSTREAM PARK WEST matches the track_name attribute of the track node in the clickable xml.

Got it, I thought the TOTE code had to match what shows up on the scratches and changes page.

The truth is that even though the Track Abbrev Table interface contains a ToteCode field - it isn't being used for anything at the current time. (That part could change if and when something in the xml changes.)

To keep things simple - I've been telling everyone to record the first 3 characters of the data file name in both the TrackCode and ToteCode fields.
