For the Saturday Canterbury 9/20/2025 card:

The V4 J.ZIP File only has Binary Race Files for races 1 through 9.

Yet the F.TXT Chart Results File has data for races 1 through 13.

Looking at the full PDF Chart currently on the Equibase site races 10 through 13 do appear to be Thoroughbred races.

Track video clearly shows races 10 to 13 were run at CBY (as opposed to simulcast.)

I reached out to HDW asking the following:

"Am I missing something? Is there a reason Binary Race Files for races 10 through 13 didn't make it into the J.ZIP File?"

I'll come back to this thread and post an update once I know more.

Email received from HDW a few minutes ago:

"Jeff,

Found the cause—looks like the initial SIMULCAST file sent from Equibase was missing the races. They sent a corrected file later on Friday, but we missed the notice.

We have reprocessed the corrected SIMULCAST file and all pre-race files should be updated shortly.

We will do a better job monitoring the notices from Equibase for these scenarios."

My comments are as follows:

Even though races 10 through 13 were actually run at Canterbury, Equibase sent them after the fact in a separate Simulcast File.

Normally races sent in a separate Simulcast File are run at a track other than the host track.

This is something Ron knew to look for.

Ryan didn't know to look for this because he hadn't encountered a situation like this before. (Now he knows.)

Fyi, I knew because Ron had called me a couple of times over the years to tell me there's an updated J.ZIP file with additional races in it.

Because it happens so infrequently, I didn't think to include that situation in my write up of everything Ron did that was proofread by Jim and given to Ryan back in January.

I'll be on the lookout and will come back to this thread and post an update if and when I see a new CBY0920J.ZIP file that contains Binary Race Files for races 10 through 13.

HDW rebuilt the CBY0920J.ZIP file and uploaded it to the download server.

I downloaded it and verified it contains Binary Race Files for Races 1 through 13.

That's all I've done with it so far.

I processed the original on the morning of 9/20 and included the CBY0920.JCP file among the tracks I loaded that day.

I processed the F.ZIP on the morning of 9/21, ran a Resolved Races that included it, and ran a DBBuild in Mode 5 that processed races 1 though 9 - populating my Starterhistory2025 table, Pl_Profile.txt file, and EICA.csv file with data for those races (but not races 10 through 13.)

When I checked the ChartRaces table in my JCapperSDK.mdb file, it contained Chart Results and TrackWeather Data for races 1 through 13.

At first I thought this was odd.

But tracing through my source code in the HDW File Mgr that processes HDW F.TXT Chart Files I was able to see that the function that populates the ChartRaces Table with Chart Results Data and TrackWeather Data wasn't impacted by the missing Binary Race Files. Instead, it is 100% driven by the races in the F.TXT Chart Results File.

Everything there executed exactly as designed.

So where does that leave those of us who processed the original CBY0920J.ZIP file that contained races 1 through 9 only?

These are the options as I see them:

1. The first option would be to bite the bullet, delete all of the Q3_2025 records from my StarterHistory2025 Table, and rebuild the entire quarter from scratch in Mode 4.

Right now we are about a week away from the end of Q3_2025.

Q3 is the one quarter each year that has more race cards than any of the other quarters. Doing that would tie up one of my machines for the better part of a day.

2. The second option would be to not do anything and leave things as is - fully knowing that my database is missing four races at CBY.

3. There's a third option, and it's the one I'm leaning towards:

Wait until after October 15, 2025 when the month of September 2025 goes "final" - and handle it then.

By goes "final" I mean there are no more September 2025 Chart Files on the HDW Download Server because the 45 day download period for that month has come and gone.

Think about it. That also means no more Chart Corrections for September 2025 are going to be made by HDW.

After that happens, these are the steps:

1. Delete all of the Q3_2025 and Q4_2025 records from my StarterHistory2025 Table.

2. Rebuild Q3_2025 from scratch in Mode 4.

3. Rebuild Q4_2025 from scratch in Mode 4.

4. After that, build Q4_2025 in Mode 5 as new race cards are added.

You have a choice, and all three options will work.

I think I'm going with Option #3.
